The highly anticipated 2025 Ford Excursion is set to make a grand return as a robust, truck-based, full-size SUV. It is poised to share its platform with the rugged Ford F-250, ensuring a solid and dependable foundation. What’s more, this next-generation Excursion is expected to inherit many cutting-edge technological features and a range of engine options from its Ford counterparts.
Interestingly, the Ford Excursion was discontinued back in 2006 due to sluggish sales, yet recent market trends have unveiled a noticeable demand for a full-size, heavy-duty SUV. The absence of such a vehicle has created a unique opportunity for Ford, positioning the new Excursion as a one-of-a-kind offering in this segment.
Retaining some of the core characteristics of its predecessor, the 2025 Ford Excursion will continue to excel as a spacious 3-row SUV. Its top-tier trims will deliver an exceptional level of comfort, ensuring that passengers experience the epitome of luxury on the road. Furthermore, the Excursion will impress enthusiasts with its remarkable towing capabilities, catering to those who require both power and space in their SUV of choice. As it makes its return, the 2025 Ford Excursion promises to redefine the landscape of full-size SUVs.
The 2025 Ford Excursion will share engine options with the Ford F-250. The base engine that will be offered with this SUV should be a 5.0-liter V8. This engine will come with a base trim, and it will be able to produce up to 379 horsepower. The middle ground will be taken by a 6.8-liter mill that will be able to produce 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The top-of-the-line gasoline offer can be a 7.3-liter vehicle that will be able to produce up to 500 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
Also, there should be diesel mills available. This will be a 6.7-liter turbodiesel motor that can produce up to 600 horsepower with an impressive 1100 pound-feet of torque. When Excursion is paired with this powertrain, it will be able to tow up to 16,000 pounds when properly equipped.
All engine options will be paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. And this SUV will come with rear-wheel drive as standard, but there will also be all-wheel-drive options.
At this moment, there are no official statements from Ford about the names of the upcoming 2025 Ford Excursion trims. But we can guess it will be available in multiple trims. Some of them will be focused on luxury, some will be offroad-oriented, and we expect to see a sporty trim.
The initial trim is likely to bear the moniker XL or XLT and is expected to come equipped with leather seating, a dual-zone climate control system, and a robust array of safety and technology enhancements. Among the notable features are a premium sound system, a central console boasting a generous 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 9-inch digital gauge display for the driver, and a host of other compelling additions to enhance the overall driving experience.
The offroad trim will probably be called Tremor. It will feature upgraded off-road suspension. Underbody and side rock guards provide protection. All-wheel drive with a rear locking differential Also, it will come with a nicer interior.
The sporty premium trim will probably be the Raptor. It will mix a sporty design with off-road features and a luxurious interior. Some of the noticeable upgrades will include a 22-inch rim. Premium color options for the exterior. New premium leather seats with heating and venting options
The 2025 Ford Excursion will bring up-to-date safety features that Ford has to offer.
Also, it will come with a new version of Ford safety software.
We expect Ford to bring a totally new exterior to the new generation of Excursion. They will probably use plenty of the same design choices as on the Ford F-250. But they also have one more big SUV in their lineup that they can share design choices with. And that is a Megarexx SVN, a four-row SUV.
Whatever inspiration Ford decides to choose, we know that the Excursion will be a big SUV with plenty of sharp lines. But we also expect some futuristic touches to the vehicle. Some of the modern design features will be unique daily lights and powerful LED highlights. A unique rim design that will range from 18 to 22 inches, depending on the model. There will be plenty of exterior color options, and some of them will be reserved just for premium trims. Some of the most noticeable things on the last version of Excursion were the big, bold grille, followed by the same big front bumper. The new generation will keep that look and offer an even more bold and aggressive design of the front facia.
The starting price of the 2025 Ford Excursion should start at $44,000 and go up to $75,000 for top-tier trims. The release date is not yet officially confirmed, but it will probably happen in the second half of 2024.
