After last year’s styling update, we don’t expect big styling changes to happen for a 2025 Ford Ranger. The truck will have the same bold styling that will remind us of its big brother, the F-150. The styling of the truck will remain the same, but we should see some changes in the interior and expect a few improvements under the hood.
Last year’s model was just sold in a variant with a 2.3-liter engine, and we expect to see an EcoBoost 3.0-liter model this time. Also, it will be available just as a crew cab with four doors. Probably the biggest change for the upcoming year is introducing a hybrid engine and possibly introducing the fully electric variant called “Lighting.”
Rumors from Ford suggest that Ford is planning to surprise us with a new fully electric variant of the Ranger. This model will receive a redesign that will make it more futuristic and aggressive. But the most important changes will happen under the hood. This model will feature an electric powertrain that will produce around 450 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. With a range of up to 300 miles and a fast charging option, you can recharge your truck in 15 minutes for up to 50 miles of driving.
This truck is promised to deliver a never-before-seen performance with an impressive range in this class. Because of adaptive suspension and all-wheel drive, we expect this model to have good offroad capabilities. Rumors from Ford suggest that we should expect good driving capabilities on the road with impressive acceleration numbers. The 2025 Ford Ranger Lighting is expected to go from 0 to 60 in under 4.8 seconds.
Probably the biggest change for the 2025 model year will be the introduction of a plug-in hybrid engine in the Ranger lineup. The engine that Ford will use in this model will be their 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. This powertrain will be able to produce up to 400 horsepower and 500 pounds of torque. Also, it will come with a rechargeable battery and up to 50 miles of just electric drive. All-wheel drive and adaptive suspension promise us good driving capabilities on this model.
Also, rumors from Ford promise us that this model will come with impressive towing capability for a hybrid powertrain. The expected maximum towing rate will be around 7700 pounds.
This model should be available in the European, Australian, and New Zealand markets. For the United States, it’s not officially confirmed. The starting price for this model should start at $45.000 and go up to $55.000.
The 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor will have a top-tier powertrain that will come with the best offroad capabilities and the most potent powertrain. This model will come with a 3.0-liter V6 engine that will produce up to 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Standardly, it will come with all-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission, and we hope we will see a rear-locking differential on this model.
Probably the biggest upgrade from the regular model will include off-road suspension. This suspension will allow this truck to go on every adventure a driver can imagine. Also, it will additionally lift trucks and allow better approaching and departure angles.
Some of the standard upgrades will also be included. Underbody protection, side rock guards, and 18-inch rims that will be wrapped in offroad tires. The Standard Ranger will offer up to 7500 pounds of towing capacity, and the Raptor model will come with 5600 pounds of maximum towing. They will all share the same payload capacity of 1750 pounds.
The interior will feature dual 12-inch screens. One of which will be the Digital Instrument Cluster, and one will be in charge of information and entertainment. We expect to see some upgrades inside the cockpit that are reserved just for this model. And that will include premium leather seats with red stitching and a Raptor logo.
The upcoming 2025 Ford Ranger release date is set for October 2024. The lighting and hybrid versions may not be introduced with the regular model, but we expect the release of both models by the end of 2024.
The starting price of this model will start at $35,000 for the base trim and go up to $57.000 for the top-tier Raptor model. The hybrid variant will start at $45,000 and go up to $55,000. We expect to see the lighting model start at $62,000.
The XLT trim that will start at $37.000 will offer impressive working capabilities, including max towing spec, and it can be paired with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine that can provide plenty of power for this truck. Also, it comes well-equipped with tech and safety features. Because of all of this, our pick for the best trim goes to XLT.
Competition for this model will include the Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, and GMC Canyon.
